Sergio Pecorelli
Biography
Sergio Pecorelli, is Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Brescia and Chancellor of the University of Brescia Health and Wealth Studies from November 2010.
It is Italy’s representative in the High Level Steering Group on the Pilot European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing European Union. He was President of the Italian Agency Board of Directors of the Drug Agency (AIFA) from June 2009 to December 2015
He was President of the National Commission of Prevention CCM Oncology, President of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and President of the EORTC Gynaecologic Cancer Cooperative Group, member of the Executive Board of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), head of the Working Group cervical cancer screening in the Ministry of Health.
Always devoted to the research activities in the field of Gynecologic Oncology, he held several research contracts. He has played and still plays an intense clinical activity and has to his credit more than 7,000 surgeries.
Author of over 300 scientific publications, was awarded in 2014 by the President of the Republic of the Gold Medal for Services to the Public Health. It is Grand Officer of the Republic in 2014. He is an honorary member of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
